Changes in the Law on Consumer Protection

There is less than a year left before the amendments to the Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights 546-FL of December 28, 2024 (Russia) come into force.

The changes establish the obligation of the seller (the owner of the aggregator) to inform the buyer of the links to the entry in the register of issued certificates of conformity and registered declarations. Such a link will be placed on the product card. The requirements apply to Declarations/Certificates of the EAC, Declarations/Certificates of the Ministry of Digital Development (FAC DoC), Declarations/Certificates under Government Resolution No. 2425.

If the products sold are not subject to mandatory confirmation of conformity, the marketplace must provide the seller with the technical ability to provide this information in the product description, and the consumer must be able to read it.

The new rules will come into force on September 1, 2026. But now marketplaces provide information on issued certificates and registered declarations in product cards.
